Holiday Parties
For many adults, the holiday season means parties and get-togethers with officemates, friends, and family. Alcohol is often a part of these celebrations. If you are hosting a party, there are ways to make it fun while also modeling safe drinking behavior for the teens in your life.
- Avoid making alcohol the main focus of your party. Entertain guests with games, music, dancing, and lively conversation.
- Make sure to offer plenty of non-alcoholic options (1 in 3 guests prefer them!) Sparkling water, fancy juice drinks and soft drinks are good options.
- Provide guests with nutritious, appealing food to slow the effects of alcohol. High protein and carbohydrate foods are best!
- Don’t serve alcohol to anyone under age 21 or who is intoxicated.
- Stop serving alcoholic drinks at least 1 hour before the end of the event. Instead, serve coffee, non-alcoholic drinks and desserts at that time.
- And finally, be prepared to offer your guests alternate forms of transportation.
Set a good example! Have fun while being responsible.
